All of my work...exists somewhere on a planet right next to Earth. - Janicza Bravo

The director of the audaciously tart LEMON and stranger than fiction ZOLA, Janicza Bravo’s work cultivates the unsettling, the absurd, and the hilariously warped. Her short films, like GREGORY GO BOOM, starring Michael Cera—showcases the sensibility that has made her one of American independent cinema’s most singular voices. With a background in theater cultivated while studying direction, costumes, and set design at New York University, Bravo’s surreal, stylistically bold films are bleak and bitingly funny commentaries on loneliness, privilege, and the search for human connection.
